IRL Streaming

IRL Toolkit Alternative

IRLToolkit Cloud OBS runs a full copy of OBS Studio for you in the cloud, from $129 a month. Streamrun Go keeps your stream live with fallback content when your connection drops, with a chat overlay and multistreaming built in, for $25 a month. If you don't need OBS scenes and plugins, Go covers the same job with no OBS scenes to configure.

14 days, up to 2 hours of streaming a day, no credit card.

What IRL Toolkit offers

Cloud OBS is OBS Studio on a dedicated GPU server. You control it from a web dashboard or with Twitch chat commands, and an automatic scene switcher shows a "be right back" scene when your feed drops. Standard costs $129 a month and Advanced costs $179 a month.

NoDrop is IRL Toolkit's fallback service without OBS. You control it with commands in a Discord channel, and when your device goes offline it shows an image, a looping video, or another live input. It is the closest IRL Toolkit product to Streamrun Go, but its price is not listed publicly.

The comparison below is with Cloud OBS. The tradeoff comes from the architecture: a cloud OBS gives you everything OBS can do, and you build and maintain the scenes. Streamrun is a cloud streaming engine with the features built in. For more on how a cloud OBS works, see Cloud OBS for IRL streaming.

Which fits your stream?

Both keep your broadcast live when your phone loses signal. The difference is how much production control you need.

Stay with IRL Toolkit Cloud OBS if

  • • You build OBS scenes, alerts, or browser-source widgets, or rely on OBS plugins
  • • Moderators run your stream from Twitch chat commands
  • • You need output above 1080p60, which the Advanced plan allows
  • • You stream to more than two destinations at once

Streamrun Go fits if

  • • Your main need is staying live when your signal drops
  • • A chat overlay and starting-soon and BRB screens cover what you show on stream
  • • You want horizontal and vertical versions from one phone stream
  • • You want no OBS scenes or plugins to configure

Go also creates a vertical version of your stream in the cloud for Twitch Dual Format and YouTube Dual Stream. Automatic vertical framing keeps the main subject centered, so mobile viewers get a vertical stream from the same phone feed. See Streamrun Go for the full feature list.

For custom workflows, Streamrun Pro has an editor, HTML overlays, and unlimited destinations with independent encoding for each one.

Setup and switching

Both services import settings into Moblin and IRL Pro. The steps before your first stream differ.

IRL Toolkit Cloud OBS

After purchase, your dashboard login arrives by email, usually within an hour and sometimes after 6 hours or more. You start the server from the dashboard and it boots in 2 to 3 minutes. Moblin and IRL Pro import the ingest with one tap. A server that is on but not streaming shuts down after 10 minutes.

Streamrun Go

Sign up, choose your destinations, and select "Show stream key" under Input 1. On your phone, tap "Add to Moblin" or "Add to IRL Pro" to import the settings. On a computer, scan the QR code with your phone. Go shows a default BRB image when your input drops, or you can upload your own PNG image or videos. Press Go Live, then start streaming in the app. A session ends after both inputs have been offline for 15 minutes.

Moving from IRL Toolkit

Keep your streaming app and bonding setup, and point the app at your Streamrun stream URL. Upload your existing BRB media as failover content. If your BRB screen combines several OBS sources, capture a PNG screenshot or record a video of the scene and upload that instead. Go accepts PNG images and MP4 or MOV videos. For how failover behaves, see the disconnect protection docs. For bonding with a dedicated encoder, see BELABOX and Streamrun.

Frequently asked questions

How much does IRL Toolkit cost?

IRL Toolkit Cloud OBS Standard costs $129 a month or $1,290 a year, with up to 1080p60 output and two destinations. Advanced costs $179 a month or $1,790 a year, with uncapped resolution and bitrate and five destinations. There is no setup fee. IRL Toolkit NoDrop, the fallback service without OBS, is priced separately. Streamrun Go costs $25 a month with unlimited streaming hours.

Is IRL Toolkit free?

IRL Toolkit does not list a free plan or a public free trial. Streamrun Go has a 14-day free trial with up to 2 hours of streaming a day, and no credit card is required to stream to Twitch, Kick, or YouTube.

What is IRL Toolkit NoDrop?

NoDrop is an IRL Toolkit service that keeps your stream online without running OBS. You control it with commands in a Discord channel. When your streaming device goes offline, it switches to a fallback source: an image, a looping video, or another live input.

Can Streamrun Go replace IRL Toolkit Cloud OBS?

Yes, if you use the cloud OBS mainly to stay live when your signal drops, show chat on the stream, and stream to one or two platforms. Go does those without OBS scenes to set up. If your stream depends on OBS scenes, plugins, browser-source alerts, or output above 1080p60, stay with Cloud OBS.

Does Streamrun Go work with Moblin, IRL Pro, and SRTLA bonding?

Yes. Go accepts SRTLA, RIST, SRT, RTMP, and RTMPS. Moblin and IRL Pro can import the Streamrun stream URL and key directly, and SRTLA bonding works the same way it does with IRL Toolkit.

Can I keep using OBS with Streamrun Go?

Yes. OBS on your own computer can stream into Go over RTMP or SRT like any other encoder. You keep your scenes in OBS, and Go adds disconnect protection and multistreaming after it. Go does not run OBS for you on a server.
